If the summary statistics are shown in a figure, the sentence above need not report them specifically, but must include a reference to the figure where they may be seen:

How do you know when you have enough information in your Abstract? A simple rule-of-thumb is to imagine that you are another researcher doing an study similar to the one you are reporting. If your Abstract was the only part of the paper you could access, would you be happy with the information presented there?

Abstracts accepted for presentation at DDW 7567 are available in the DDW Online Planner and Mobile App. Abstracts were also published in April 7567 supplements to Gastroenterology and GIE .

To create a first draft of an abstract of your own work, you can read through the entire paper and cut and paste sentences that capture key passages. This technique is useful for social science research with findings that cannot be encapsulated by neat numbers or concrete results. A well-written humanities draft will have a clear and direct thesis statement and informative topic sentences for paragraphs or sections. Isolate these sentences in a separate document and work on revising them into a unified paragraph.

9. Check your work : Once you have the completed abstract, check to make sure that the information in the abstract completely agrees with what is written in the paper. Confirm that all the information appearing the abstract actually appears in the body of the paper.

You may write an abstract for various reasons. The two most important are selection and indexing. Abstracts allow readers who may be interested in a longer work to quickly decide whether it is worth their time to read it. Also, many online databases use abstracts to index larger works. Therefore, abstracts should contain keywords and phrases that allow for easy searching.

Conference Expenses
Those authors whose abstracts are accepted are responsible for their own travel, lodging and conference registration expenses. Waiver of registration fees will be considered upon request for those requiring financial assistance. Details regarding registration waivers will be available with the Speaker Resource Center upon confirmation of acceptance.

When abstracting your own work, it may be difficult to condense a piece of writing that you have agonized over for weeks (or months, or even years) into a 755-word statement. There are some tricks that you could use to make it easier, however.

What are the results ? : When you pose a testable hypothesis that can be answered experimentally, or ask a question that can be answered by collecting samples, you accumulate observations about those organisms or phenomena. Those observations are then analyzed to yield an answer to the question. In general, the answer is the key result.

Tony B. Academic Travel Awards include airfare or mileage reimbursement, conference registration and shared accommodations. Students, graduate students, postdoctoral associates, and junior faculty are encouraged to apply. Click here for complete details on the Tony B. Academic Travel Award program.

Abstracts are scored based on 6 (high) to 5 (low) scoring by the International Committee. Members of the International Committee will be assigned into review groups, of which at least 7 individuals will score each abstract. The Program Committee will review the scores and determine cutoff score of accepting abstracts for the congress.

6. Function : An abstract summarizes, in one paragraph (usually), the major aspects of the entire paper in the following prescribed sequence:
