Before beginning the WPT, test takers complete a Background Survey and a Self-Assessment. They also receive a full overview and explanation of WPT procedures, including a sample test question. These instructions can be delivered in the test taker's native language (English, French, German, Korean, Japanese, Chinese-Mandarin, and Spanish).
Individuals can arrange to take the test via LTI's remote proctoring program, by signing up for one of the Language Proficiency Certification options offered to individuals by LTI. To view individual language proficiency options, click here.

A random picture from your selected topic is shown. Beneath the picture there is a white box into which you should type the words you have learnt for that picture. If you need a little help you can click on the "Help me" sign for a quick reminder of the vocabulary. Only use the help if you really need to.
If you type the word or words correctly the computer will automatically light a star. If you have entered your answer and no star lights up, click on the tick or press Enter to check your answer. 6. All alternatives should be plausible. The function of the incorrect alternatives is to serve as distractors, which should be selected by students who did not achieve the learning outcome but ignored by students who did achieve the learning outcome. Alternatives that are implausible don’t serve as functional distractors and thus should not be used. Common student errors provide the best source of distractors.
In the Speaking test, you have a discussion with a certified examiner. It is interactive and as close to a real-life situation as a test can get.
There are three parts to the test and each part fulfils a specific function in terms of interaction pattern, task input and test taker output.
In Part 6, you answer questions about yourself and your family. In Part 7, you speak about a topic. In Part 8, you have a longer discussion on the topic.
The Speaking test is the same for both Academic and General Training versions. Each of the three parts is designed to test a different aspect of your communication ability.
The Academic Writing tests consist of two writing tasks of 655 words and 755 words.

For organizations wanting to schedule a WPT for candidates, you must set up a free account with Language Testing International. We will collect some basic administrative information and then provide access to a secure web-based scheduling utility. Using this utility, the organization can request assessments, track those requests, confirm appointments, and see results. Because the WPT is computer-based, organizations can arrange for candidates to take the assessment in a proctored setting at any time. All that is needed is a computer meeting the minimum specifications, detailed here , in an appropriate test environment. Results of assessments are also posted and stored on the client utility website, allowing organizations to track their testing activity easily in a single location.
